SOUL SICKNESS AND SOUL LOSS #2

Shame, Severe Guilt, Self-Condemnation and Recrimination

“No matter how you stir a pot of filth it is always a pot of filth.

Better to let the pot be and string pearls for the sake of heaven.” Chassidic saying

When we condemn ourselves, severely, and lastingly shame results. Shame can come from WITHIN and self-abuse.

It can also occur from WITHOUT because of one or other form of severe abuse from another or others early or late in life.

Causes for shame, soul sickness or loss include:

Severe abuse, illness.

Trauma, violence, war.

Isolation and severe loneliness.

"Sex, drugs, rock and roll."

Addictions.

Satanic and other violent militaristic cults and gangs.

Trafficking in children and women.

The dark side of the religions and gurus.

Despotic, powerful leaders.

Musicians (notably Heavy Metal.)

Witchcraft, sorcery, intrusive spirits, energetic pollution.

Any or all of these can cause soul loss.

Those with a shattered sense of ego or self and shame may have a damaged aura and are vulnerable to possession by dark spirits and their forces which delight in taking advantage of their power.

Soul loss in the perpetrators and in their victims can arise from unmitigated greed and need for power that we see in autocratic leaders and others.

Given full power greed becomes an enslaver of the greedy - fear becomes first a bully, then a torturer and then a killer

"Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.”

Sir John Dalberg-Acton

“Nearly all men can stand adversity but if you want to test a man’s character give him power.” A. Lincoln

The perpetrators develop a total unawareness of right and wrong because of the allure of power. Power and greed can lead to malignant compulsions, desires, toxic impulses, malice and the desire to wreak vengeance and retribution on any naysayers and those who oppose them.

Many of their followers ride on their coat tails in order to feel powerful themselves and are also vulnerable to soul sickness.

Brilliant musicians from certain genres are also vulnerable because of their power over others to soul sickness or loss.  The negative vibration of the music resulting can also cause toxic affects on their devotees.

Shame and guilt are about feeling bad about who one is rather than remorse and regret and feeling bad about one’s unskillful actions. We all do bad things but this does not make us bad. We are responsible for, but are not our actions but should not magnify them. We need to release ourselves from what we are not accountable and shift the blame to where and whom it belongs. Shame can occur even if we have done nothing wrong. No one is perfect.

"To err is human, to forgive divine."

When non-toxic – guilt or shame can also help us self-correct. Otherwise it can be a crippling emotional force which can be aggravated by humiliation and isolation. It can cut those off from their higher consciousness and puts their brains in lockdown, survival mode, thus subordinating their higher consciousness.

Guilt and shame may decrease self-motivation and control. Belief that one is bad and out of control may make one more so!  This may lessen accountability and cause more dysfunction. This “dis”-ease can cause despair, depression and even disease. Shame and guilt also increase pro-inflammatory factors which can cause certain illnesses.

Severe shame can also have acute physical effects including a lowered head, downcast eyes, voice alteration and a slack posture. Sometimes when politicians, who have a measure of conscience, know they are telling shameful lies, their speech falters and their voice cracks.

"Shame is the swampland of the soul." C.J. Jung

Flushing due to our sympathetic autonomic response, can also occur.  It can extend to the ears, neck and upper chest and over more of the body. Severe flushing can make it difficult for a shameful person to feel comfortable in certain situations. Blushing is less severe than flushing and has a different mechanism.

Attachment theory states that a strong emotional and physical attachment to at least one primary caregiver is critical to personal development early on in life. Abused children can feel unseen, unheard, unsafe, un-soothed and insecure. Shame can occur early in life if a child is continually put down and humiliated by a toxic caregiver, especially if this is associated with the emotion of disgust. The child believes that they were born a mistake and are no good for anything. Abandonment can also be due to the child being forced to take care of the caregiver's physical and emotional needs.

 Shame can be due to any form of abuse, physical, sexual (including voyeurism) or emotional. Humiliation aggravates the shame. Shame can turn inward or outward leading to unskillful desires, habits, impulses, compulsions, hatred, anger, vengeful actions, malice and addictions. Furthemore;

“Malice sucks up the greater part of her own venom and poisons herself.”  Michel de Montaigne

The child also dreads the possibility of being abandoned. This may lead to perfectionism to find some measure of control and avoid criticism or bodily harm. As they mature they might overact to give the impression of normalcy.  Appearing to be invulnerable is also a method of defense. Sometimes two personas are developed; a public and a private one. Anger may become a state of being, projecting blame onto others. Numbness, mood disorders and addictions often fill the emptiness inside.

Sexual abuse may lead to promiscuity or alternatively to an eating disorder in an attempt to appear unattractive. There is a tendency to shut down and an inability to respond to others.

Similar effests can also occur in adults subject to severe abuse who mistakenly blame themselves rather than the abuser and still choose to remain in an abusive relationship.

The following will be discussed in the next blogs.

“Gurus,”  dysfunctional priests, religious, spiritual or occult cults, etc.

Demented powerful leaders who propel entire nations into senseless wars resulting in the killing of millions.

Some musicians because of their power over their devotees - any soul sickness - when subjected to drugs and alcohol can become soul loss with a poor prognosis and a bitter end.
