THE WATER ELEMENT AND THE GROWING BEINGS

Growing Beings are of the Water Element -

to experience them you must listen to them.

If you would know the mystery of the plants, listen for My voice in

every twig and leaf.
The barren and the weeds have their purpose and their beauty too,

for they are of My breath.

 

Plants breath in carbon dioxide through the use of chlorophyll and sunlight

during the day and expel oxygen. In the process they change water

and carbon dioxide into sugar that they use for food. We inhale oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide through the use of iron and hemoglobin

while plants, with the help of magnesium, inhale carbon dioxide

and exhale oxygen. 

Green to plant red to blood you color us with life and health.

They don't only have nutrient, esthetic and spiritual value

but existential value too. We on this planet need their oxygen. 

When we lack iron we get anemic, when plants lack magnesium

they get chlorosis – a yellowing of the leaf. Divine intelligence

and consciousness can be seen permeating everywhere in nature.

Knowing a little about how things work increases our sense of wonder

and awe. The deeper we go, however, the less we know.

We should be in awe of what Nature presents to us.

 

Knowing more about something does not make it any less mysterious.

 

From the beginning of time all Nature’s Beings

have conversed with one another

and with all living things.

Animal 'Whisperers' know and practice this.

“Beloved gaze into your own heart –

the Holy Tree is blooming there.” W.B. Yeats

The Druids, who were nature bound, and the Celts, had their own Tree of Life.

The Tree of Life is seminal to Kabbalistic mysticism. There were two trees

in the Garden of Eden; the Tree of knowledge that got us kicked out.

But there was also the Tree of Life, and by engaging in the challenging

climb up it, we can regain Eden - as we can with the Chakra hierarchy.

In many cultures the archetype of the tree is the link between heaven and earth. 

Plants that have a lot of spiritual power usually also have aroma.

If when burnt they have incense they are even more powerful (sage, cedar...)

Plants of power can repel dark forces both within and without.

Placing a sage leaf in a water bottle or in a ritual bath

can favorably change water’s vibration especially if used with loving

intention or prayer.

Be careful of what you taste and where you immerse.

Aromatic seasoning can be used in cooking and if done with healing intent

or eaten as an active meditation, can also protect and create balance.

There are many paths to the mystery wisdom exuding from the growing things that surround us, from the color of the sky, and from all the still beings.

It is impossible for the world to existwithout fragrance, for our souls to survive without aroma.One must breathe deeply into the spirit flow. Only through the spirit Selfcan we access the mystery which is itself spirit. The soul's senses must be fed.

The way to God is through the senses. From my flesh shall I behold the Creator.  

If we pick or use a plant especially for sacred use, we should ask permission,

give gratitude or even make a small offering …

Being of the breath of God, all creation is responsive to

love, gratitude and petition.

Each as it is acknowledged becomes receptive to giving and receiving.

That is how we experience the other.   

The law of Similars (or Signatures)

“By similar things a disease is produced and through the application

of the like is cured.” Hippocrates 

Hippocrates predated this essential principle in Homeopathy

which Western medicine has not found to be evidential.

Many indigenous medicine healersembrace the idea that like can affect like - if things resemble one another

they can affect the other.

Aposematism is a warning and advertising signal from an animal

or plant and has been adopted by us as well.

An Amazonian red frog is warning predators that eating it could be lethal.

We know in California and elsewhere that if we touch poison oak which is red

we will get a nasty rash. A red traffic light means stop! Some

traditions wear a red bracelet for protection.

Plants that are red can be protective. In shamanic understanding

the Law of Similars makes sense for two reasons.

Through the placebo affect but also

through 'distant healing.'

There are numerous double blind trials - where placebo is discounted -

that show distant healing and prayer work through the 'Field' .

It is also true that some plants may

have beneficial pharmacalogical properties

but these are probably minor compared to those used in Western medicine.

Sangomas in Southern Africa use this principle but call the Field

the Ancestors. One can regard the request given in ritual with a plant of power

being a password to the spirit world for a positive outcome.

Free will is the cosmic law so that when we make requests to God, Jesus,

our guides, the ancestors or the Field we are also giving 'Them'

permission to act on our behalf for a specific request.

In a sense the Law of Similars is a prescription

or one's informed consent to 'Spirit.' The more powerful the connection

and trust in 'Spirit' the more powerful the effect
