THE TRIAD OF BECOMING #3
FAITH AND BELIEF
Will, Intention and Passion
are enhanced by
Faith and Belief.
These mediate in the central column of the Tree between Understanding on the left
and Wisdom on the right.
Imagination, especially while in an altered state, gives the context of our intention to the "Field." Because of free will - we need to ask to receive and ask in specifics, not in generalities (such as "help me with my life.")
Faith is a very strong thing and if a human has faith and a simplicity that does not rationalize, s/he will be found worthy of reaching the rung of Grace (Daat) which is even higher than that of holy Wisdom.” Chassidic saying
FAITH (DAAT)
is a sense of deep Knowing that nurtures Grace from the Infinite One and the Field. It is not a true sephirah but it can assist us in reaching Keter.
Belief can do the same but is not quite as powerful. Faith or Belief are seminal in our quest for Keter. This energy center situated between Wisdom and Understanding has its own place. Faith differs from belief only in being stronger.
“The state of faith allows no mention of impossibility.” Tertulian
It will be given to you according to the measure of your Faith.
The Inner Healer which is part of the Soul can be empowered in those who are suggestible, gullible and easily hypnotized because it is easier for them to be convinced and have faith.
Studies of spontaneous remissions of diseases that have defied the best efforts of allopathic medicine demonstrate that an overriding Faith or an "Inner Knowing" that they would be cured was a key factor.
It sometimes helps to be ignorant and be in denial of scientific facts. Even a charlatan “faith healer” can sometimes heal a sufferer if s/he truly has Faith. Spontaneous remission of a disease is a miracle - like water flowing uphill.
We know from double blind studies that distant healing or prayer works (even if the patient does not know that prayers are being offered.) The power of remote prayer or spiritual healing can defy a bad prognosis. This is even more so if the patient believes or has faith in the prayers coming from within or without (the placebo effect.)
Make your prayer to the Creator and it will be heard. You have only to decide on the matter and have faith and it will be established for you.
The power of prayer is greater than the power of prophesy (or a prognosis) and therein is healing to be found.
The challenge most of us have, is to have this amount of supreme Faith.
William Osler, founders of John Hopkins hospital wrote the first significant textbook of medicine; The Principles and Practices of Medicine, in 1892.
Faith in the gods or spirits cures one, faith in little pills, another, hypnotic suggestion a third, faith in a plain common doctor a fourth … The faith with which we work has its limitations such as we know it but faith is the most precious commodity without which we would be very badly off.” William Osler
The Inner Healer is part of the soul and as such responds not only to faith but also to love.
A powerful healer that knows how to manipulate placebo (a love vibration) and Faith or Belief can convince the Inner Healer, that anything is possible. This may require a special kind of intervention. Shamans or those with similar expertise, with their magical rituals allow the patient to go beyond their usual Western conditioning and can defy a grim prognosis.
Entheogens or mind altering plants used in sacred ritual can help to show another reality where hope, belief and faith are possible. The FDA is beginning to realize this by allowing the use of psilocybin in psychiatric conditions that have defied allopathic medicine. They need to go further.
The question is ?
How much do you really believe or have faith if there is no proof or if there is statistical proof of the opposite?
Statistics and data can lie!
"Not everything that counts can be counted and not everything that can be counted counts." A. Einstein
The power of prayer and placebo can override the nocebo effect and a unintentionally delivered medical hex of a grim prognosis rendered by a physician.
In Exodus and Numbers Moses is described as striking the rock in order to get water to the Israelites in the Sinai desert. God, however, had instructed him to only speak to the rock. Moses and other enlightened beings are always held to a higher standard.
And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “because you did not believe in me (lacked faith), to uphold me as holy in the eyes of the people of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land that I have given them.”
When one has complete Faith, then with certainty one can make a decree. Job had absolute faith in the Supreme Being.
“You shall also decree a thing and it will be established for you and the light shall shine upon your ways.” Job
Sometimes when a vow or an oath is taken it can enhance the power of faith if a promise is made to be of service to others if one. However, when it comes to either;
You should wish for yourself that which the Creator wishes for you - but also on behalf of others - not only for yourself.
We need to think of the greater good so that our actions are in line with our Divinely given purpose. We collaborate with the Supreme Being through His/Her desires for each one of us.
With will, commitment, eyes on the goal and a can-do attitude almost anything is possible.
“I am looking for a lot of men who have an infinite capacity to not know what cannot be done.” H. Ford
The subconscious of an optimist is usually conditioned positively throughout their life’s experience. The negatively programmed subconscious of a pessimist dictates negatively to the conscious mind about what is going to happen without it even knowing it. Sadly we mostly act out what is in our subconscious rather than our conscious minds. The subconscious should also best be in line with faith or belief for conscious intention to be successful. We cannot fake it.
Seeing is believing.
Many feel that they must see first and then they will believe. They confine themselves only to the five senses not realizing that there are also intuitive senses. This is why the ancestors urge us;
with all your strength get knowledge.
We need to learn spiritual truths from others wiser than us and then if we trust we will be able to recognize and see them.
One doubts at first, then trusts in the spiritual truth, then believes and our inner vision expands. If you believe you can see what seeing eyes cannot see, you will see.
You will come from doubt to belief, from belief to understanding, from understanding to knowing. This is the way.
If we cannot believe we should at least be open and not disbelieve. Doubt is acceptable as long as trust is maintained.
Faith and Belief are similar but not the same. Belief usually arises from information, facts and understanding.
Faith reveals proof – Belief requires logic and proof.
Faith trusts and surrenders – Belief seeks evidence in facts.
Faith resides in Spacious Mind – Belief can be subject to Narrow Mind.
Faith is propelled from within – Belief from without.
Faith exalts in wonderment – Belief formulates and defends.
The shadow side of Faith is presumptiveness - the shadow side of Belief - dogma and restrictiveness.
Faith is embraced by unearned love.
To see has not always been to believe. You will begin to see because you first believe. When you believe enough there will be no need for seeing. It will all be as you will it to be, appearances no longer mattering.
“… And according to your belief, is it done unto you.” Matthew
When the ships of the settlers first arrived on the East coast of the U.S.A. - initially the Native Americans initially could not “see” them – they had no visual framework for a ship (unless maybe the vision of their shaman had told them to expect white people coming in huge canoes that were going to be their nemesis.)
One doubts at first, then trusts in the teaching, then believes and our inner vision expands. If you believe you can see, you will see.
If you do not believe you can see, you will not see. If we cannot believe we should at least be open, trust and not disbelieve.
We should have sympathy for those who say; if I cannot see it, hear it, feel it, smell it, or taste it - it does not exist. According to the Zohar they dwell in a One percent world.
