The Eternal O H M or A U M

continues on and on to this day and beyond.

Brahma; the Supreme Creator, embraces the element Ether,

which includes Sound.

Akasha's primary element is Ether, Space, Sound - the Primordial or the first element.

Without space - Akasha - Vibration and Sound cannot exist,

Nada - Vibration is the kinetic, creative force of the universe,

or the frequency that moves through the ether.

It is the underlying hum of the universe (? Pythagorus' Music of the Spheres

or the O'ran M'or of the Celts/Druids.)

Brahma is the ultimate Creator and is synonymous with sound.

O H M or A U M represents the Three Deities; Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva,

and the cyclical nature of the universe; Creator, Preserver, Destroyer.

and 'OHM' or 'AUM' - the sound of the universe.

The universe is fundamentally made of sound and vibration,

and is all encompassing according to Vedic and Yoga tradition.

It is the essence of the ultimate reality that unifies everything.

As you chant OHM ... A-U-M you are experiencing the all in everything.

Bijas, Kirtans and Mantras are a different way to meditate

and reach the Supreme Being.

The Ancestors tell us that we are like marionettes connected to the supernal worlds

and that every kind action we take, or positive chant/sound/song we express, or words

we speak, all have an effect 'above' and comes back to benefit us 'below.'

They liken it to creating pockets of angelic energy. The converse is true, in that we may

also create mini demons.

Hence what comes around (to above), also goes around (back to us below.)

It is also another way of looking at Karma. The Sounds and Words we make

or listen to are much more than they appear to be.

Each Chakra - the Energy system in Yoga - has its own Bija, Seed or Primal sound.

When said aloud they activate the energy of the chakras in order to purify

and balance body, mind and spirit.

1st chakra; survival - flight or fight. Bija sound - LAM

2nd - the chakra of regeneration of the species (sex), elimination and digestion

- VAM

3rd chakra - our power chakra - the way we make our way in the world,

(strongly attached to shadow, ego and monkey mind) - RAM

The sages teach that we are all continually being animated by

the breath of the Divine. (What is God; the breath withing the breath." Kabir)

We all can have a a tiny roll in sustaining the Creator's Breath/Spirit which is also,

Vibration, and the subtle 'Sound' that animates the totality.

Pranayama (the science of breath) can move energy from the lower to the higher chakras

and enhance our vibration.

Pranayama is one of the Eight Limbs of the Yoga path.

Ujjayi breath has its own "ocean" like sound and can easily induce a

parasympathetic, relaxed state - subordinating our sympathetic stress responses.

Alternative Nostril breathing can do the same.

4th chakra - love, compassion, empathy - the most challenging one to open

- YAM

5th - the chakra of creative expression -

becoming all of who we can be as creative beings - HAM

6th chakra - AUM

- our intuitive chakra of tuning in beyond the five senses. This is highly developed

in indigenous medicine wo/men and facilitated by sound -

drumming, chanting, clapping, singing, didgeridoo etc ...

7th chakra - our connection with enlightenment, the Great Spirit and the Field

- OM

Tibetan Bowls are crafted from a multi-metal alloy and can 

produce complex, harmonic frequencies.

They can open up the chakras, especially the lower ones, and can induce meditative states.

Crystal bowls are made of crushes quartz and can be designed to tune

each respective chakra

especially the higher ones. They emit clear, singular and sustained tones.

In the next blog we will discuss how the right sound can move the feminine, Kundalini,

serpent power at the base of the spine - potential spiritual energy and vibration.

In indigenous cultures, this is not so much for enlightenment, as in yoga

but for trancing, gaining information as well as healing power from the Field

- in order to help and heal others.
